When you go to a doctor the first thing they do is check your “vital signs.”  Your vital signs tell the doctor how healthy you are and in which areas you might need his help.  Lent is the time for all of us to check our “spiritual vital signs.”  They can tell us a lot about our spiritual health and the vitality of our relationship with God.  During the Lenten Mission we will all take our spiritual vital signs and learn how they can help us develop a deeper and more intimate relationship with the God who loves us as we are, but refuses to leave us there.  He wants more for us; he wants us to become just like Jesus; and that’s severe conversion.
